The beloved comic actor Dudley Moore (1935-2002) was also one of the UK’s most dazzling, swinging jazz pianists and a composer of wit and depth. In an entertaining and engaging presentation packed with anecdote and insight, the Chris Ingham Trio revisits Moore’s music on their acclaimed show The Jazz Of Dudley Moore, with sounds from the fabulous 1960s Decca jazz albums, the TV show Not Only But Also (1965-70) and the brilliant movie soundtracks for Bedazzled (1967) and 30 Is A Dangerous Age, Cynthia (1968).
Hear some of The Jazz of Dudley Moore on Chris Ingham’s website. And for period context, listen to the Dudley Moore Trio of yesteryear performing tunes from his LP Jazz, Blues & Moore and a documentary After the Laughter, a sensitive and moving biopic with a focus on Dud’s later years. ”The funniest, saddest and most talented musician, composer, actor and comedian”.
