UK Foundation for Dance & Sandside Players presents Patience by Gilbert & Sullivan

Directed by Bill Scott & Tim Tubbs
Musical Director: Jan Burtenshaw-Scott

Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic opera spoofing the sillier aspects of the Aesthetic Movement gets a fresh production, updated from the 1880s of Oscar Wilde to a modern-day, small-town literary festival.

The book club ladies, headed by festival director Lady Jane (Alex Weatherhill), are all after celebrity poet Reginald Bunthorne (Tim Tubbs)… who’s only interested in local barmaid Patience (Rebecca Kelly-Evans)… and she’s only interested in rival poet Archibald Grosvenor (Andrew Clay)… and he’s devoted to his art and his own beauty.

When the military arrive, led by Colonel Calverley (Dave Blaker), the ladies just aren’t interested… and it’s the arties versus the hearties all over again.
